New York has a way of making personal style feel limitless, and for Haley Bond, that freedom is part of the fun. Living in one of the world's fashion capitals has given her the confidence to experiment, change her aesthetic on a whim, and find inspiration everywhere from the people on the street to the smallest details around her. Her style is polished but never predictable, with classic pieces, statement accessories, and those little finishing touches that make a look feel completely her own.

That same eye for detail carries into her home, where lighting, art, and even the right frame can transform a space. And when it comes to getting dressed, Haley knows the power of a French twist, the perfect accessory swap, and a great pair of statement jeans. In this edition of Living In Detail With, she shares the New York influences behind her style, her favorite ways to elevate the everyday, and the AITD pieces she'll be wearing this fall.

How has living in New York shaped your personal style?

New York provides a special kind of freedom to explore personal style. Unlike other places, there isn’t one distinct look here, it’s a mix of everything, and you can change your aesthetic overnight without anyone blinking an eye. Because of that, I’ve felt free to make mistakes and dress however I feel in the moment. Being in one of the fashion capitals of the world also means incredible inspiration is everywhere; just walking down the street gives you great ideas for new ways to style a look.

What's one thing that will always make you feel instantly put together?

A classic French twist. Hair is such an immediate indicator of polished style, and learning to master a French twist has been a total game changer. It takes seconds, requires minimal effort, and instantly elevates any look. (I have a French twist tutorial if you need help learning how to do it!)

What's your favorite way to take an outfit from day to night?

Strategic accessories. Swapping shoes and layering statement jewelry can completely transform a look. They’re small details, but they do all the heavy lifting when transitioning from day to evening.

What's one small change that can instantly make a home feel more elevated?

There are so many subtle things you can do, but if I had to pick two, it always comes down to lighting and art.

With lighting, it’s all about creating atmosphere through deliberate layering. Don’t sleep on picture lights to illuminate artwork, accent lamps at varying heights on side tables, or statement candles to add warmth. Crucially, pay attention to your lightbulbs: always stick to soft or warm white (preferably warm incandescent), and make sure every bulb in the same room shares the exact same color temperature. That visual consistency creates a seamless, relaxing environment that instantly relieves the eye. (And frankly, if you’re using cool toned daylight bulbs in your living spaces, you need to go straight to jail.)

When it comes to art, I’ve learned that the secret isn’t always the artwork itself, it’s how it’s dressed. A thoughtful mat and frame can take something unassuming and make it feel truly special. For instance, I picked up a few small architectural postcards for under $5 at a street market in Mexico City. I had them framed together with a wide, dark mat and a rich burl wood frame, and suddenly, my little souvenirs were transformed into a high end piece of art.

If you were styling an AITD piece for a day in NYC, where would you wear it?

As the air gets crisp, you’ll find me in the Quilted Jacket for a Sunday morning stroll through the 79th Street Greenmarket by the Natural History Museum. It’s the ultimate early autumn layer, and that rich green tone is perfection.

If you were creating a three-piece AITD capsule for your ideal fall wardrobe, what would you choose?

The Beatriz Lace Sleeve Blouse: Stunning on its own for warm autumn days, but equally gorgeous layered under a cozy knit as the temperatures drop.

The Millie Denim Pant: Never underestimate the power of a statement jean...these are amazing!

The Zoey Blouse in Golden Harvest: The warm, golden tones in this print are gorgeous. It’s the ideal anchor piece to build an entire autumn look around.

Honorable mention: The Regina Classic Rattan Handbag. It’s my personal belief that one can never have too many woven rattan bags!
