If Nancy Meyers films were reimagined with a feminine Mediterranean spirit, they might feel a lot like Laura Hattayer's world.
Based in Canada, Laura romanticizes everyday life through soft, seasonal styling, charming small towns, fresh flowers, slow mornings, and sun drenched adventures that feel as though they've been pulled from the pages of a European summer journal. Her style isn't confined to one aesthetic, but evolves with the places she explores, the changing seasons, and the stories she wants to tell.
Laura feels that personal style isn't about fitting into a single category. It's about collecting inspiration, embracing what speaks to you, and finding beauty in the little details.
In this edition of Living In Detail With, Laura shares the pieces she reaches for time and time again, the moments that inspire her most, and why the simplest davs often become the most memorable.
1.) How would you describe your summer style?
“Cottagecore. Chic, elegant, and simple. Whimsical. Coastal grandmother. Y2K. Granola chic.”
There are so many terms floating around the internet to describe someone’s personal style, but I wouldn’t say mine fits neatly into one particular box.
My personal style is heavily inspired by the seasons, different locations, and the settings around me. I love using Pinterest to create mood boards for photoshoots, and I’ve never liked the idea that I have to stick to one aesthetic or niche.
As someone with a lot of creative energy, I love trying new styles and experimenting with different looks. Some people might see that as “trend chasing,” but I think part of who I am is simply being open to inspiration and trying new things. We grow, we change, and our style evolves with us. That’s what makes fashion so much fun!
At the same time, I think it’s important to be mindful of the impact of fast fashion. For me, exploring different aesthetics doesn’t always mean buying an entirely new wardrobe. Sometimes it means borrowing pieces from friends, styling the same outfit in a new way, or creating a completely different feeling through accessories, props, and locations in my photos.
I also appreciate brands that prioritize quality and natural fabrics. I love that All in the Detail uses 100% cotton in many of their clothing pieces, because investing in well-made items that can be worn and styled in many different ways is something that’s important to me.
2.) What are your favorite AITD pieces and where would you wear them?
Definitely the bags! I own the Rachel Handbag, and I immediately fell in love with its natural colour. It felt perfectly suited to Tuscany, which I’ll be traveling to this summer.
I’m also obsessed with the Helena Handbag in the tan brown colour. I don’t own it (yet!), but the Italian leather detailing is absolutely stunning. I would wear these bags anywhere from brunch dates and small-town adventures to local peony festivals and strolls through Tuscany. They feel timeless, versatile, and effortlessly elegant.
3.) What is a summer wardrobe staple that you can’t live without?
Lately, I’ve been loving platform shoes and wedges. I’m 5’ 1”, so I love anything that makes my legs look a little longer!
Another summer staple for me is breezy cotton clothing. Comfort plays a huge role in my wardrobe choices, especially during hot weather when I tend to get overstimulated quickly.
Also…not exactly a wardrobe staple, but can food count as an accessory? Because for me, it absolutely does.
If I’m taking photos at the fair, I need cotton candy or a candy apple in hand. If it’s a summer day, give me an ice cream cone or a popsicle. And when I’m in Italy, you can bet I’ll be taking photos with pasta, pizza, and gelato.
There’s always a vibe, always a vision, and almost always a sweet treat!
4.) How do you like to spend a perfect summer weekend?
My perfect summer weekend starts with a slow morning on the porch with my German Shepherd and cat nearby, a fresh cup of coffee in hand, and a basket of linens waiting to be hung out to dry. There’s something so simple and peaceful about easing into the day with the animals, the sunshine, and the gentle rhythm of summer mornings.
From there, it might be a day spent berry picking, wandering through a small town with my mom, or browsing a local market. If the weather is nice, I love packing a picnic and finding a spot where I can watch birds, admire wildflowers, and soak up the sunshine.
In the afternoon, you'll usually find me at the beach with a stop at a fruit stand on the way home, or spending time at my moms cabin. I enjoy napping in a hammock, paddling a canoe, and enjoying the quiet.
Summer also means tea parties in my mom’s backyard, ice cream dates, and finding any excuse to be outside.
Honestly, I think almost everything feels a little more magical in the summer.
5.) Which is your favorite summer piece from our new collection, and how would you style it?
Probably the Rachel Bag. It’s the newest addition to my collection, and I’ve already worn it so many times.
Right now, I especially love pairing it with baby blue or powder blue outfits. I’ve styled it with both a cotton dress and a matching set, and it complemented both beautifully.
The bag also pairs effortlessly with white, cream, pink, and so many other colours that I often wear, but there’s something about the combination of blue and brown that I absolutely love. It feels classic, fresh, and perfect for summer.
