Some people get dressed. Wendy Sy makes a ritual of it.

Wendy Sy, Founder and Editor of Style Meets Story, has a way of turning getting ready into a little moment of calm before the day gets going. The right pair of earrings. A scarf knotted just so. A color that lifts her mood. Even on an ordinary Tuesday, those small choices set the tone for the whole day, and it's a philosophy we happen to share here at All In The Detail.

Today we asked Wendy about the rituals and small choices that shape how she shows up for herself, and how that same sense of care carries from her morning routine to the pieces she reaches for again and again. Consider it an invitation to slow down, take your time, and treat the details like they're worth savoring this summer.

1.) What is your go to and favorite trend you are seeing for the summer?

Right now, I'm loving straw hats for summer! It's fun to switch it up with different styles to complement your outfit while protecting yourself from the sun. They're also lightweight and travel-friendly. I got one during a trip to Italy a few years ago and wear it all the time.

2.) What is your favorite item in your closet that you keep grabbing over and over again each summer?

I have a lightweight butter yellow scarf that I always carry in my tote bag before going out in the summer. Even though it's usually warm out during the days, I'm always glad to have it for unexpected weather, places that blast air conditioning, and cooler nights. It feels super soft and easy to layer over any outfit.

3.) Which is your favorite piece/s from our summer collection and where would you wear it?

This pink floral matching set is my absolute favorite: Valerie Top and Paige Skirt. It has such a whimsical design with fringe details, and the hand block prints feel unique. In these photos, I wore this outfit around New York City on a summer Saturday. It was perfect for brunch, Little Island, Chelsea Market, dinner, and a sunset walk on the High Line.

4.) If you could pick one item from our new summer collection, how would you style it?

Speaking of matching sets, I would pick the Cordelia Top and Madison Pants. The sleeveless top and long pants give a nice balance, and the cotton material looks so breezy. I love how the pink and white gingham print feels summery and fresh! For styling, I would wear it with a pair of white sunglasses and a handbag to match the lace details. Then I would add gold jewelry and block-heeled sandals to finish the look.

5.) What are three things that are currently inspiring your wardrobe?
  • Color: Pastels and vibrant hues, it just makes getting dressed more fun!

  • Versatility: Mixing and matching different pieces inspires my creativity. I also look for pieces that can seamlessly work from morning to night.

  • Comfort: An outfit always looks better when you feel good in it. Comfortable pieces are key

6.) What does your perfect summer day in NYC look like?

It would start with a picnic in Central Park, followed by a stroll to Belvedere Castle and the Conservatory Garden to see all the flowers in bloom. Afterward, getting matcha at a cozy café, unwinding at a spa, enjoying dinner out at a restaurant, and ending the night with a movie at home.
